Acute Pelvic Trauma: Myths, Management, and Current Treatment Guidelines: This course discusses common mechanisms of pelvic trauma, different types of pelvic fractures, key physical findings and potential associated injuries, correct technique for stabilizing the pelvis with binder or sheet, initial management of hemorrhagic shock due to blood loss from pelvic injury, current evidence-based practice guidelines for the use of pelvic x-ray in the trauma bay, and use of pelvic binders. The presenter is Kaci Rainey, MSN, RN, CEN, TCRN.



Learner Outcome: Upon completion of this course, ED nurses will be aware of the common mechanisms of pelvic injury, identification of key physical findings, how to initially manage patients in hemorrhagic shock and recognize current evidence-based practice guidelines.
